Poverty Services encourages volunteers to assist their neighbor's job transportation needs until the neighbor is able to provide their own sources of transportation. Although volunteering transportation to temporarily assist someone to obtain or maintain a job may not appear to be a big deal, it is a very big deal to someone trying to break the cycle of poverty in their lives and trying to become financially independent.
Because volunteer transportation requirements and availability of services varies throughout the 28 counties of Southern Illinois, Poverty Services is currently addressing transportation needs on a case by case basis. If you are interested in becoming a Poverty Services transportation volunteer to assist a job related need within your county, you must own or have access to a vehicle, possess valid driver's license and have liability insurance coverage.
